Once upon a time…

Princess Toyotomi (プリンセス・トヨトミ) is a historical fantasy novel written by Japanese novelist Manabu Makime—one of my favorites since high school. For this project, I reimagined the book jacket design in my illustration style. Through my usage of Asian graphic design principles and influences, I encouraged my class to reflect on the design education we receive from a predominantly white institution and industry, as well as the idea of design as a celebration of heritage.
